It's been a while since my last post, so what's happened ?

Been to see Sparks (again) and Foy Vance in Glasgow.
Went to London in October to see The Who at the Roundhouse.
Uneventful Christmas and New Year.
Turned 50 at the begining of the month.
Decided to stop looking for another job and just tell everyone that I'm now retired.

So in the words of Ron and Russell Mael.... 'All I do now is 'Dick Around.'

Not much posting going on........

The weather is too nice to be sitting at a computer so apart from checking my email and watching the occasional webcast by The Who, I haven't been near the keyboard.

An eventful week so far.......

On Sunday afternoon there was a lightning storm that not only frazzled my modem but also blew up the TV. My next door neighbour was in his garden when a lightning bolt hit the top of the patio heater on our wooden deck and bounced up on to the telephone cable and took care of the modem, there was also a power surge which thankfully only damaged the TV.

Today, Pamela and I (proud parents) attended our son David's graduation from Glasgow University.

For the past week the washing machine has been acting up and now that my son has a summer job working on an oyster farm it's a necessity so as to get rid of the 'old salty sea dog' smell from his clothes every day.
I've ordered a new one that won't be delivered until Friday, my wife reckons the old machine knows this and is screwing up the washing programs on purpose. We reckon it can lip read and knows its mission is about to be terminated and it will have to give up its secret stash of odd socks. I expect when I disconnect it on Thursday night it will start singing 'Daisy Daisy' !

June 21st the longest day of the year.
It's summer there's gale force winds, pouring rain and it's cold. Welcome to Scotland, why would you want holiday abroad ?

Went to see Martin Taylor at the local Jazz Festival this was quite a coup for the organisers. The venue was the local theatre which lacked atmosphere, it would have been better in a smoky basement. Nevertheless, the guy's a virtuoso on the guitar and although I'm not really into jazz, it was amazing watching his fingers at work on the fretboard.

Summer has arrived at last and the weather has been hot and sunny all week. The garden has required constant watering to preserve the results of my wife's green fingers.

Da Vinci Code fever is gripping the country. I thought the book was so-so, I only read half of it because I could see where it was leading. I had read Holy Blood and Holy Grail back in 1982 and some subsequent books that were based on the same premis of Jesus being married to Mary Magdalene and having children. There wasn't the same uproar then.

It seems everybody nowadays sees a conspiracy at every turn.

It's freezing, there's hailstones and I've put the central heating back on. Is this a sign of global warming ?
